Change 4U Lunch and Learn Event Huge Success for Understanding Behaviour Change

Change 4U as part of Barnardo’s and Safer Futures was proud to host a lunch and learn event for professionals across Cornwall

Change 4U were proud to host a Lunch and Learn event in Truro on June 15th 2022. The event provided an opportunity for professionals across the county to learn about the programmes Change 4U provide, as well as the new Reconnect Respect programme.

Around 50 professionals attended, including from police, criminal justice, domestic abuse services, NHS, social care, and children’s services.

Professionals were given a chance to read about the amazing work Change 4U has been doing within the county to support clients through behaviour change, and to develop healthy relationships, including the workshops which started earlier this year. Professionals were able to see quotes of clients who engaged within the programme, speak to our Integrated Offender Management team and workers in person, as well as clients. Attendees also got to see the premier of our new Change 4U video where workers talk passionately about the work they do, the services available, and why they continue to provide the support to those in need.

When attendees were asked what was most valuable about the event, they said:

“Very considerate and well-informed team members who were so willing to chat with each of us”

“Networking and meeting people face to face putting faces to names and making it personal”

“Talking directly to staff and individuals who have been supported by the service.”

When attendees were asked what was the most positive aspect of the event, they said:

“The vibe of positivity and the show if vast skills and experience needed to challenge abusive behaviours”

“Having an ‘in person’ event, so much more productive, conversations evolve in person, they don’t on Teams/Skype”

“Seeing what Change 4U provides and meeting the faces behind the project.”

Other comments included:

“I literally had my strong viewpoint on behaviour change turned upside down. So very well done to the Team at Change4U.”

“This needs to be a regular occurrence even twice a year with updates about services and how they are evolving. Thank you for all the hard work.”

“I think these should be yearly with a wider scope i.e. police, probation, and magistrates”

“I thought the event was ran very well, the venue was appropriate and we really appreciated the lunch, being able to sit down with immediate colleagues and Barnardo’s colleagues and talk about the services and plan future meet ups, information sharing, etc was highly beneficial. It was great to put faces to names and the literature was excellent. Thank you very much.”
